Silver Summer postcard
Autumn Silver Postage Stamps

Second entry to `Dianae's Gods, Goddesses and Mythology contest.
First was Waterborn and this has a similar theme... a series? Also has little dragons, for those who look closely. AND YOU MUST LOOK CLOSELY> FULLVIEW PLEASE

Closer look at the Silverspringsummer sylph [link]
(I am actually really pleased with the eyes. I think they look alive ^_^)
This picture [link] is also from Fall, slightly edited.

This began as one figure reaching out to the other as they fell, but it changed...
The autumn figure was the focus for most of the ime I was working on it, mainly because I left the faces until last, and when I added the background she blended more...

Concept... Forest spirits, leafchildren, nature guardians, embodiments of the seasons...

Green growth turns brown
and falls among the thorns,
broken, and yet glorious.
As she dissolves into dry dead leaves,
and soars down, spiraling,
on broken branch wings.
Separate and the same,
as one becomes the other,
yet both coexist, melding to their sister-self.
Spring-summer lingers,
fresh and calm, yet to fall...
Untroubled, by an ageless cycle, she will reform..
but there is youth and joy,
because after all,
she's only a season old.
slightly more coherent poem - Death in Autumn

remarkable painting....so fantastic!!!!
i dont want you to take this the wrong way but i do not adore this drawing to much. there is an big lack of detail. the woman face is the only thing i can make out of this, apart maybe for the trees. it is very difficult to understand what is going on in the image. also the color dont compliment each other. the lack of shading is also in its downfall.
im sure you worked really hard on this so i think you should be very proud of this, just next time take the pointers i suggested in to your consideration.
I beg to differ on this opinion. I feel that there is a great deal of detail in this, just that your perspective is rather closed.
If you have not read the notes on it, I suggest you do. He clearly states that it is not just one character. I personally find the detail in this phenomenal, and it takes alot of time and patience to see everything in it.
Perhaps you would be better off taking the time.

I say this is perfectly detailed, it's amazing.
I love this painting very much because it has so much in it that it's hard to get bored looking at it at all.
I could stare a long time.

Thank you for taking the time to comment; it's refreshing to get new perspectives.
When you say you have trouble making details out, did you look in largeview? I'm afraid the small one is a bit confusing. I was trying to put in motion, although that seems to have been at the cost of detail?
I'm not quite sure what you mean about the colours - is the green too bright? - that's the only bit I can see that doesn't match as well, but I also wouldn't change it. But if you see something that I've missed through being too invested...?
The lack of shading... yes, actually. That may be something I need to work on. I was aiming for one of those hazy misty mornings, when the light levels are quite low, and the mist disperses it so that there is no real light source, but if that isn't coming through... then thank you. I will be more careful next time.

Thank you, very much - I was getting a little worried that it was too confusing, as opposed to detailed. And I'm glad my rather haphazard notes make some sense ^_^
