An experiment - while staying at my aunt's, she had a couple of sets of pastels, so I decided to experiment with the different kinds.
This was dashed off as an experiment (then I went back and touched it up a bit - lighting, wave direction and foam, mainly)
I repeat, THIS WAS ME PLAYING WITH PASTELS (as I haven't used them for years) so go ahead an butcher it with critique If I already know it, I be pleased to have it confirmed, if there's problems I haven't spotted, I can use it as a learning piece... and if it's perfect, well....
Seagulls were scratched out of the pastel, on black paper.
I think it's pretty neat for not having used them for a while. And the one with it's head up looks like it's smiling.

It's great!!! I love pastels they are so cool to work with! and you have used them well, love the texture! I only see one thing, I think it needs a more deffinate horizon, it's not so clear where it begins...and maybe bring it a little further down to give it more sky? I love the sea monsters...Are they Nessies???
