And here I play with symbolism and stylised things and very-non realism. All using the pastel tool - which I'd wondered about. I LOVE the fact that it lays down colour like my coloured pencils do, and this is more like the work I've been doing in my sketchbook. It blends. But: it's pastel; ever used it? It's oily and sticky. I can't use the flat palette knife or a paintless brush to blend it, AND I used a large canvas size.
This means my computer only let me use a 20% (sized) soft palette knife to blend...
So that took a while. All the background is on one layer - the unicorn is on a separate one, because I had to sketch it before colouring.
And, in homage to the Deer of Woodland Green I have included another deer, here... can you see it?
Time - four and a half hours Tools - ArtRage 2.5 and tablet Unicorn is referenced from the foal in this stock picture (of mine) and adapted - mane/fur/tail, body shape and neck is longer and more deerlike... I used the foal because it was more delicate than the adult pony.
...how many creatures can you spot? EDIT: okay, there's a deer, cat, fish, dragon, dragonfly, butterfly, tree, bird in the tree, another fish, flying serpent, phoenix, and big serpent-dragon ... and possibly a couple more things
Ooh... I love all the hidden images! I can't find the deer, but I see a cat & a fish, a dragon fly, a bird...a little dragon, and maybe the neck & head of a larger dragon...butterfly...oh wait! Is the deer red?
