Mermaid for ~asrafrate
The little mermaid story, obviously. Although not the Disney version, the Hans Christian Andersen version, in which they're a little wilder and more ethereal, and she dissolves into foam at the end.
This was quite fun, I played with very washed out paint for the water and foam, it needs less blending after.
The tail is metallic paint, the hair is a mix. The eyes were annoying.
Quite similar to this old sketch n style, but - while I considered colouring - I felt I wanted to do something with more feeling, more life...
ArtRage 2.5 and tablet
four hours
Edit: 16/07/08 Fixed the hand and arm, added fins along arm, altered hair so it rises clear of the spray, tiny edits on face, signed
EDIT: 13/6/09
Repainted the face, which bugged me sooooooo much.
Old face vs New is Here
Pencil version July 2009
